Muy exitosa la Segunda Feria Agroecológica en el Parque de la Carolina (Quito, Ecuador)
El domingo 19 de abril, se llevó a cabo la segunda feria agroecológica en el Parque de la Carolina en Quito, Ecuador. La feria, organizada por el Colectivo Agroecológico con el apoyo de VECO y de otras organizaciones no gubernamentales, reúne a más de 20 productores agro ecológicos y artesanos que exhiben sus productos hechos con amor y respeto a la tierra y a nuestras culturas ancestrales.
Vegetable production in Cañar, Ecuador: sustainable livelihood analysis and chain analysis
In the Andes region, VECO focuses on the development of two agricultural chains: coffee and vegetables. At the start of its new 6-year programme, VECO Andino carried out a livelihood analysis and analysis of the vegetable chain in the province of Cañar. The study was carried out in partnership with the farmers' organisation Chuya Mikuna.
Estudio de consumo de productos orgánicos/agroecológicos en los hogares Ecuatorianos
La producción orgánica en el Ecuador ha venido creciendo a tasas superiores al 10% anual, principalmente en rubros de exportación de alimentos a mercados internacionales y en parte a un todavía pequeño pero interesante mercado interno. En la actualidad, los consumidores ecuatorianos han incrementado su interés en una alimentación sana y saludable que ha derivado en la creación de un nicho de mercado para productos orgánicos y agroecológicos. Sin embargo, no existían estadísticas sobre el grado de difusión de la producción orgánica en nuestro país ni información sobre el tipo de consumidor (perfil) que adquiere estos productos.
Coffee chain in Manabí, Ecuador: sustainable livelihood analysis and chain analysis

The study was carried out in partnership with the coffee producers federation FECAFEM.
Building an urban-rural platform for food security
VECO Ecuador closely works together with Chuya Mikuna, a producers' organisation in the province Cañar. Chuya Mikuna is a member of a bigger network: "Tierra y Canastas" (Earth and Baskets). Emma Kirwan wrote an article about it in the most recent LEISA magazine.
